Upon turning 85 my grandfather, Nicholas Cuoco, exclaimed "Tutti i miei amici sono morti" (all of my friends are dead).  I was struck by this and wrote a piece for solo marimba to be part of a larger piece Reflections on the Razor's Edge (in progress) written for percussion ensemble and inspired by reflections on W. Somerset Maugham's novel of the same name.
