Summary of Experience Graduate, college and secondary level teaching experience in
music, the humanities, education and industry. Current
Teaching Activities Assistant Professor - State University of New York, The College at Oneonta
Assistant Professor and advisor in dynamic music program teaching courses in music, music
industry, music technology, beat making, drumming and rhythm. Courses taught include:
Music In the Market Place, Contemporary Issues in The Music Business, Art, Commerce and Consumerism, Drumming and Rhythm, Jam Band and Blues Ensemble. Digital
Playground Co-founder and Co-coordinator "The
Digital Playground", now in its seventh year of operation, is an
interactive digital workshop for music, graphics and multimedia housed
at the Hoboken Charter School. Satellite and affiliate programs exist in
New York, Boston, Chicago and San Antonio. The Digital Playground exists
to facilitate and document the creative work of young people. Each
year students, along with Joe Pignato and co-founder
Michael Cain, compose, perform and record a CD of original music.

Lecturer / Speaker Mr. Pignato has lectured
on music composition, improvisation and the music industry at New York
University, Ramapo College, NW Vista College in San Antonio, Texas,
Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, The State University of New York
at Oneonta and at The Eastman School of Music.
He has also spoken or presented at the SXSW music festival in Austin,
Texas, the CMJ New Music Festival, the International Association of Jazz
Educators Convention, the Gavin Convention and the Jazz Times
